Fallen Star

The other night we lost yet another young black man to violence. 18 year old Dannie Farber Jr. was murdered in cold blood. The reason other than ignorance is unknown. I hate to hear that our young men and women are dying senselessly. And I hate the fact that it’s becoming a such a normal occurrence, that no one is really even alarmed by it anymore.

But lemme learn ya what I REALLY have a problem with.

As I’m watching the news I catch an interview with his girlfriend. She was sitting right there when he was shot four times. And she said he died in her arms. Now as she was talking I noticed two things. Her ability to articulate what happened, and her lack of tears. I mean she sounded like she wanted to cry, but it wasn’t nann tear fallin from her face. Now I aint tryna call her a liar or nothin. But c’mon. You KNOW how women react to stuff like that. They fallin all over the place. Cant barley get a word out. Atleast I know sistas do. This young lady just happened to be a Latina. See I’m an actor (or atleast I like to think so) and I know how to SOUND like I’m crying, or sleeping, or busy. But its hard as hell to actually to get some tears to fall. And it seemed like she was really tryin to get to that place to squeeze a couple out.

Now here is something else that bothers me. Now I’m no criminal, but I know there are some basic criminal rules (not that they are always followed). But if I’m gonna be bold enough to take someone’s life, I aint leavin no damn WITNESSES! Now how is this young man and his girlfriend are sitting there eating dinner, and someone can walk in and shoot him four times IN FRONT OF HER, and she doesn’t get so much as a scratch. She can identify me. Maybe he/she was a dumb criminal. Or maaaaaybe…

I mean they are doin this massive search for the criminal and petitioning the public. I say ASK THE DAMN GIRLFRIEND! Cause something just aint addin up.

Maybe it’s just my conspiracy theorist hat on. The story is new so I’m sure there is more to come. But as it stands, I gots to say it like Keith Sweat “Somethin Somthin, Somethin Somethin Just Aint Riiiiight”

That’s all for now… have a great day and make sure you got on ya “Good Drawls”…

So What Does "Good Drawls" Mean?

Sometimes things that we do or say take a life of their own… lately a lot of people have been asking me about my constant references to “Good Drawls”. Well first let me say that it’s not some morbid obsession with underwear… “Good Drawls” is a concept. It’s an idea. It’s a way of thinking. More than anything, “Good Drawls” is a lifestyle.

Remember when you were young, and your mom would always tell you to make sure you had on clean underwear? I mean who’s gonna be looking at my Underoos anyway? But to parents it meant everything! God forbid you get hit by a car and the paramedics cut off your clothes. Now never mind the fact that you just got hit by a damn car…but you BET not get hit and caught with some dirty Drawls on. It speak to the age old parental adage “YOU REPRESENT ME!”. Let’s not mention that the parent was not supervising the kid well enough to prevent them from a life threatening ordeal right. I mean that happens everyday so no biggie. But you’re a HORRIBLE parent if your kid gets caught wit skid marks! But I digress…

They term “Good Drawls” IS a representation of oneself. How DO you represent yourself and the way you were raised? How do you represent your way of thinking? What is your attitude in life?

A child that has on good clean under wear shows that they are being and taught and well taken care of. Dirty under wear shows neglect, bad hygiene, and just plain ole NASTINESS!

In order to progress in life, you must have a good representation of yourself. In order to get through hard times you must change your attitude and way of thinking. In order for people to accept and follow you, to believe in you and follow your vision, you gotta put ya “Good Drawls” on.

If you have a positive mindset, you got ya “Good Drawls” on. If you’re a go getter, you got ya “Good Drawls” on, if you are inspiring people and setting an example, you got ya “Good Drawls” on. If you don’t let life keep you down, you got ya “Good Drawls” on. If you refuse to complain, even though you can, you got ya “Good Drawls” on.

Getting up and puttin ya “Good Drawls” on is a virtue in life. You even have drawls that you wear with certain outfits. Ladies….when you wanna feel sexy, or turn ya man on…what do you do? You put ya “Good Drawls” on!

So now you know what it means to put ya “Good Drawls” on… and now that you know, pay it forward! If you hear someone complain…tell em to their “Good Drawls” on. If you see someone slackin off or being lazy…tell em to put their “Good Drawls” on. If they aren’t routing for the Lakers…tell em to REALLY put their “Good Drawls” on.

Live life with no apologies, Love hard with no regrets… and put ya “Good Drawls” on.

I love you all…

To My Mothers With Their "Good Drawls" On...

What’s poppin everybody…Welcome to Good Drawls! I think it only appropriate that my first post be posted on Mother’s Day since this is the birth of something of new. So my very first post is a shout out to all you Mothers out there.

I want to thank all the strong mothers out there who have sacrificed everything for the benefit of their child. There is no love parallel to a mother’s love. I mean a real mother’s love. Just because you laid down, got pregnant, and pushed a kid up outta ya don’t mean you a real mother.

I’m talking about those make sure you had everything you need mommas,

I’m talking about the don’t let you get away with bloody murder mommas,

I’m talking about the sit with you when you got a fever and a cough at 2am mommas,

I’m talking about the bake cupcakes for the whole kindergarten class mommas,

I’m talking about the mommas that know how to make fried bologna sandwiches taste better than McDonalds,

I’m talking about the embarrassing screaming momma at your basketball games,

I’m talking about the “Don’t make me come in there!” mommas.

A mother’s love seems to always make it all better. A mother’s words have the power to make you feel invincible. It is her nurturing spirit that gives you the energy to keep going, even when you want to quit.

She is beautiful

She is strong

She is wise

She is resilient

She is life

So here’s to all the mother’s with their “Good Drawls” on… Happy Mother’s Day!
